Overview

Sidekick is Shopify‘s in-platform AI agent that edits merchant storefronts — Liquid code, theme structure, product content, and theme config — from a chat interface. Shopify rebuilt its theme architecture so Sidekick could edit store structure cleanly. The agent’s volume signal of >25M theme edits across the H1 2026 install base became the load-bearing distribution claim behind the Canvas launch.
